Smart Home Tech Gifts (2026): Cameras, Doorbells, Wi-Fi and Cleaning

By the TechDeals editors · updated November 6, 2026 · how we pick deals

Smart home gifts are the ones people end up using every day: a doorbell that shows who is outside, Wi-Fi that reaches the bedroom, a robot that vacuums while they are out. They are also the gifts most likely to need something extra, such as a subscription, a Wi-Fi band or a compatible door. Each pick below notes what it needs.

Video doorbells and cameras

Ring's Battery Doorbell 2K installs without wiring and charges over USB-C. Saving and reviewing recordings requires a Ring Protect plan, sold separately; without one, it still shows live video and sends alerts. Ring is owned by Amazon) and works with Alexa devices.

If they would rather avoid subscriptions, eufy's cameras store video locally on a microSD card or eufy HomeBase. The C31 is a wired pan-and-tilt camera for indoors or a covered porch; the SoloCam S340 is a solar-powered outdoor camera with two lenses.

A smart lock

The eufy C220 replaces a standard deadbolt and unlocks with a fingerprint, the app or a code. It connects over Wi-Fi without a separate hub and runs on AA batteries. Check that the door takes a standard deadbolt before gifting.

Wi-Fi that reaches every room

Mesh Wi-Fi uses several units to spread one network across a home, and it is the most effective fix when the signal is strong near the router but weak elsewhere. For a small home a single router is often enough. The TP-Link Deco S4 three-pack covers large homes; one eero 6 suits smaller ones and can be extended later.

Cleaning that runs itself

An entry-level robot vacuum is a gift busy households remember. The Roborock Q7 L5 maps with LiDAR and vacuums and mops in one pass. For help choosing a bigger model, see Roborock vs Dreame vs Shark.

For movie nights

The Fire TV Cube is a fast streaming box with hands-free Alexa and Wi-Fi 6E that can also control a TV and soundbar.

Before you gift a smart home device

  • Ecosystem: check whether they use Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home.
  • Wi-Fi: many cameras and locks connect on 2.4 GHz only.
  • Subscriptions: cloud video often needs a monthly plan.
  • Renters: battery doorbells and plug-in cameras avoid drilling and wiring.
