Roborock vs Dreame vs Shark: Which Robot Vacuum Brand Fits Your Home?
By the TechDeals editors · updated November 6, 2026 · how we pick deals
Roborock, Dreame and Shark are three of the robot vacuum brands Amazon shoppers search for most, and they take different approaches. Roborock and Dreame build mop-and-vacuum robots with docks that wash and dry the mop themselves. Shark focuses on simpler vacuum-first robots with large self-empty bases. The right one depends less on the logo than on your floors, your pets and how much maintenance you want to do.
The brands in one table
| Roborock | Dreame | Shark | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Founded | 2014, Beijing | 2017, China | SharkNinja, 1994, Needham, Massachusetts |
| Typical strength | Wide range from basic LiDAR robots to full-dock flagships | Feature-dense docks: hot-water mop washing, hot-air drying, extending mops | Bagless self-empty bases, straightforward app |
| Mopping | Dual spinning or vibrating mops, lift on carpet | Dual spinning mops that extend into edges | Vacuum first; mop pad on combo models |
| Best for | Most homes; easy to find a model at each budget | Mixed floors where edge mopping matters | Carpet-heavy, pet-hair homes that mainly need vacuuming |
Founding details come from each company's public records (Roborock, Dreame, SharkNinja).
Ignore the suction number (mostly)
Every listing leads with a Pascal figure: 18,500 Pa, 25,000 Pa, 36,000 Pa. There is no common test standard behind it, and it describes the fan, not how much dirt reaches the bin. When the Korea Consumer Agency measured vacuums in 2025, models advertising 18,000 to 48,000 Pa delivered far less measured suction power than their spec sheets suggested, reported Korea JoongAng Daily. Compare robots on the things you will live with instead:
- Navigation: LiDAR (a spinning laser on top) maps reliably in the dark; camera or structured-light sensors are better at recognising socks and cables.
- Dock: self-emptying only, or also mop washing, hot-air drying and water refilling.
- Mop lift: how high the mop rises over carpet, so rugs stay dry.
- Hair handling: rubber or split rollers tangle less with long hair.
- Wi-Fi: many robots connect on 2.4 GHz only, which matters on some mesh networks.
Roborock: the widest range
Roborock covers everything from basic LiDAR robots to flagship all-in-one docks, so it is often the easiest brand to match to a budget. The Q7 L5 is a simple LiDAR vacuum-and-mop with a charging dock; the Qrevo range adds docks that empty, refill and dry. See all Roborock deals.
Dreame: the most features per dock
Dreame's Ultra models pack hot-water mop washing, hot-air drying and mops that extend toward skirting boards, which helps on hard floors where edges collect dust. The L40 Ultra Gen 2 lifts its mops 10.5 mm on carpet. See all Dreame deals.
Shark: vacuum first, low fuss
Shark's robots are built around strong carpet cleaning and bagless self-empty bases that hold weeks of debris. They are a good fit when you do not need mopping, or prefer a separate mop. See all Shark deals.
Worth comparing too
ECOVACS and eufy compete directly with all three. ECOVACS uses a roller mop that washes itself as it cleans; eufy's C28 also uses a roller mop with a 75-day station.
Running costs
Full docks use consumables: dust bags, mop pads, filters and side brushes, plus cleaning solution on some models. Before buying, check that replacement parts for the exact model are sold on Amazon or the brand's store, and whether the dock uses bags or is bagless.
FAQ
Is Roborock better than Shark?
For mopping and dock automation, Roborock's mid and high-end models do more. For carpet-heavy homes that only need vacuuming, Shark's simpler robots are often enough.
Is Dreame a good brand?
Dreame was founded in 2017 and its Ultra docks are among the most fully featured on Amazon, with hot-water mop washing and extending mops. As with any brand, check the dock's consumables and the model's Wi-Fi requirements.
Does higher suction (Pa) mean better cleaning?
Not reliably. Manufacturers measure Pa differently, and independent tests show large gaps between claims and measured performance. Brush design, navigation and the dock matter more day to day.
