On July 27, IT Home reported that Tencent officially launched “Digital Axis – Micro Universe”, providing users with the largest immersive digital experience of the ancient capital landscape to date.
Users can access “Digital Central Axis·Micro Universe” through the WeChat mini-program “Cloud Central Axis” and explore Beijing landmarks with virtual characters.
The “Digital Central Axis – Microcosm” showcases historical buildings on the central axis of Beijing in 3D form, including scenes that are currently damaged or no longer exist in reality.
The development of Digital Axis Microcosm took three years and involved high-definition scanning, modeling, and PCG automatic generation. The virtual space covers an area of 200km×200km, with 300,000 plants and 2.2 million buildings. This innovative use of gaming technology in World Heritage application sets a new benchmark for digital preservation and promotion of Beijing’s Central Axis.
Beijing’s Central Axis has officially been included in the World Heritage List, marking the 59th world heritage site in China. The axis, built in the 13th century, spans 7.8 kilometers and consists of historic buildings and ruins that define the city’s planning pattern.
The Beijing Central Axis, with 15 heritage elements, is a complete traditional capital central axis building complex in China.
